  I bought a board advertised for $799. Akewatu came back to me, after I already paid for the board, and said I needed to pay an extra $100 because this offer was no longer valid. What the hell?? I'm sure this is not legal, let-a-lone ethical to change the price after a transaction has been made....anyway, apart from this, the rest of the experience was good. Jasmine in the head office was very friendly and helpful. Rob (BDM) really has no idea about customer service - he thought he was doing me a favor by offering me the board for a $100 premium to the original deal. At first he was trying to get even more out of me. I'm sure I could have taken this to consumer affairs, but at the end of the day I just wanted the board and didn't want the hassle. The board was delivered in good order and relatively promptly.

  Hey there, There was nothing illegal or unethical about this sale, the seller had a week-long sale to clear excess stock & had a $1,100 board listed at $799, it was sold in-store just prior to your online purchase so immediately became unavailable. We successfully located a newly stocked replica of your board, and for your inconvenience, we offered a $200 discount off the original RRP. Rob gave you the option of an immediate refund or the deal, you chose the epic deal....your review & comments hardly seem fair considering. We hope you have fun on your new board.   Ha, ha, you blokes are kidding yourselves. When was the last time you ordered and paid for an item online and the vendor comes back to you and says they want more money...I suggest never. It is a first for me. My dealing were with Akewatu, not the surf shop. That board was on offer at the discounted rate for months, so don't give me that bullshit about it selling out on the same day that I ordered it. Maybe we should have this discussion via the media and let the public opinion decide. It is a disgrace what you guys did, and you should be eating humble pie.

  This is the marketplace model. We can offer a huge range of choices and great deals but surf shops are responsible for their own stock and deals. Not Akewatu. The total extra cost was $100 for the $1,080 board you got for $849. Akewatu offered you a $50 discount from a previous order and resulted in a total extra payment of $50 of which you paid.   It was an incredible set of circumstances when purchasing a new board for my son’s 16th birthday. His selected board was marked as available on the website. We consider buying from Akewatu and a competitor. After buying via Akewatu, we were told delivery would be within 7 days-Here’s where the problem start, after paying, we’re then told it is not available, told they would get it in on 2 -3 weeks, disappointing but accept. Time goes by and not board or communication. After I contact them, I’m told they’ll follow up. I look on the web site and see they still have that board advertised as being available. I go on the chat and ask if I buy that board, how long until delivered. I get the response, 7 days. I respond with I’m happy to buy that board as long as it does arrive within 7 days and if they could cancel my original order which never arrived. From there, no response. I then get a call-finally- from a very helpful lady(can’t remember name)she said she was getting from another supplier, it was being picked up by courier at end of week. Got a message from courier saying intended pick up date. Look on tracking, doesn’t show it had been picked up, spend a lot of time chasing up with courier and they say was scheduled to be picked up but wasn’t collected. Get back onto helpful sales rep, she says it was collected but will check with the person at the warehouse and that I should check again with courier, same response from them. Sales rep sales warehouse person away and that She will contact me once she’s back and been in contact with the warehouse person. Get a call back couple days later saying it Hadn’t been collected. It is rescheduled and received, it was from the competitor I initially looked at buying from. I have a range of theories as to why this happened like this, but not sure-terrible experience and deters me from buying on line

  Hi there, Our goal is for all surfers to have the simplest experience locating their perfect board for a seamless process from start to finish! We, unfortunately, had issues mid-year with a specific seller due to Covid border closures, which resulted in them having major staffing issues at their locations on either side of the NSW/QLD border.   Was pretty disappointed with the fact I got charged a foreign currency. Contacted them but they have done nothing except take more money than stated on invoice. Picked this company as it was supposedly Australian based and even states it came from NSW store. Not impressed

  Hi there, Akewatu AU is Australia based. The board did come from a NSW store and every product shown on our site is sitting in an AU surf shop. You were refunded immediately after we received confirmation from you of the total foreign fee of $13.14 AUD.

Quick follow up purchase confirmation, the shop arranged shipping within 24 hours and tracking was added which assured me my new board was on its way. The package arrived on time but with some obvious damage, but thankfully the shop had packaged it up very well on the inside and so my board was still in good condition.

  I was served up ads for the JOB Catch Surf Quad, retargeted ads too, considered and purchased after a number of weeks as it's what my daughter wants for her birthday. At no point was I advised this model was out of stock. After the moment of purchase I was advised the boards out of stock and asked if I would switch to another model - not cool. It was not until I responded asking for my money back that the board I'd paid for miraculously became available and was couriered to me without issue – great result, but a bit of a red flag? These mistakes happen, and the supply chain, due to the pandemic, have caused issues, but it was a bit of a bumpy beginning to what I hope is a better relationships moving forward.

  A message was sent to this customer to resolve the issue regarding the damaged and repair to the surfboard. We were not aware the customer was charged an extra fee and we will amend that once we receive a response back from the customer with the total amount of the fee as well as an invoice for the repair to cover the cost. For their troubles a FREE Organic tailpad has been sent to them.
