  The games often have interactive elements at the bottom of the screen, right where Apple’s navigation to switch between apps also sits. As you can imagine, that means my 3.5 year old is constantly navigating out of the app accidentally. Any time you navigate away from Reading Eggs, the audio on the app completely dies, rendering it useless until you close the app completely and reopen it. This means any progress on the game is lost. The app is basically useless because of this. I provided this feedback to Reading Eggs via email and got no response. You can see from the reviews in the App Store that others have encountered the same issue. Very disappointing as my child was so excited to try it, and then had her confidence busted.

  My 4 year old has really enjoyed the game-based learning Reading Eggs offers and only after completing 5 levels, is starting to recognise sounds in words and is very interested in learning more about letters. It took us a little bit to figure out how to navigate through the app, but there is so much to unpack and resources to explore, we are taking it as it comes.

  We absolutely love using reading eggs. It has given me a whole new insight into my sons learning, as well as us discovering together how to use the program on the computer (which was an education for him in itself)! Love everything about the program! From its ease-of-use, to the enjoyment that you see on your child’s face through learning to the updates you get us a parent and also the helpful advice, tips and assistance you get online as you progress through each stage. Highly recommend - such a wonderful resource!

  The site is easy to use and the learnings are really fun for our 5 year old. I was sceptical- I didn't think he would stick with an educational game, but he asks for it every day.

  great value for Tom who has dyslexia,his teacher has noticed a big improvement in his confidence and reading etc. The site is easy to navigate , the articles are good value for money and the kids enjoy doing the tasks asked for.. Would recommend reading eggs to anyone.

  The app is incredibly buggy and doesn’t work. I’m sure there are some good ideas in there if it actually worked! A minute or so into each activity it crashes, goes back to the menu and the child has to start again, which isn’t engaging

  We love reading eggs because it's teaching our son so much basics. He is only 2 but its engaging enough for sich a young kid, and his awareness of letters has improved a lot since starting reading eggs. He also now has the confidence to do puzzles (he used to give up after one attempt to get a puzzle piece in), as a result of the puzzle activities on reading eggs.

  I had a trail for two weeks and I found my son starts to read and can follow the clear instructions. I think it is an excellent program for home-schooling. You can start learning at any time at home, save a lot of time and money to find a tutor. 5 stars learning program for kids and would recommend to his friends in kindy.

  Reading Eggs is the one program that has helped by 3 year old to stay engaged whilst learning at the same time. My daughter will"play on the iPad" for half an hour each morning learning how to write create letter, match up colours and listen to books.

  Reading Eggs is a great teaching medium for my grandson to learn about alphabets and numbers. It’s a challenge to teach him using books but with reading eggs it make it so much easier and fun. He really enjoys the games and the videos.

  Don't bother. No matter how good this app / software, if we can't login via the iPad app it is absolutely useless to us. Which we can't and I can NOT get anyone at Reading Eggs to respond. Also I signed up for the 30day trial on the 7 March - today is the 15th and I've been hit up for fees. For software / app she hasn't even been able to use !!!!! Angry isn't coming close.

  Games, numbers and letters repetitions in the each sections are too many times, kids lose interest after long long repetition. If repetition needed and kid didn't get the colours, numbers or letter or shapes parents can repeat the whole game instead of having too many repetition in each sections. Because of too many repetition they dnt want to play the same game again. Re machining or progression there should be some kind of hint like dotted arrow or flushing similar colours or shape, so kids can follow the cue and learn by themselves to start with, later cue option can be removed by parents to test. It's a very good app with lots of content, but needs more smart input as kids are very smart in learning. Level of difficulty can also be added which will help deciding parents which level to start with instead of only age group selection. Thanks for asking a feedback. Cheers

  I wish i found this earlier. It's so easy to structurally improve language and maths for kids. Best part is my son also loves his time doing it. I live in Netherlands and would have loved to find similar resource for Dutch language. In short, we are loving it.

  Navigation is not straight forward from Home Screen for a 2yo to progress. Even in the 2-4yo reading section. The value for the price isn’t great for the age. It’s an overpriced amount, for the age bracket, with no discount for annual upfront payment. I foresee that it will be great for development at older age brackets.

  I am very excited to give this review for Riding Eggs because this is the very best app I decided to buy and happily pay the subscription for! I have two children who absolutely love play and learn with reading eggs app, even prefer this learning app to any of the other entertainment digitally available to suit their age as in games or videos they always come back to the Reading Eggs and spend time with a smile on their faces once they finish the tasks and learned something new. I recommend this app to anyone that is happy for their children to have and use a device with a knowledge that is for learning purposes and it is a very helpful tool to use before kindy starts! I am very happy with Reading eggs!

  I started purchasing this program for my Grandson when he was about 4 years old. Hes a spectrum child with multiple issues and he has used this constantly over the past 9 years, resetting the placement test a few times every year so he started back at the right level and has done and redone the whole program more than 20 times over the years. It has helped him learn and relearn when he's regressed and retain and relearn to retain the basics and I highly recommend it as a fun learning tool for your spectrum children. Learn about resetting the program using the placement test so they start back at the correct level and pick up any bits they missed along the way. Brilliant program 100%

  I have just paid $13.99 for this month and i am STILL LOCKED OUT. I would like it either fixed immediately or a refund. Whichever is faster. I am mighty cranky because even the conversation option for getting help is not working. It is ridiculous. Please fix this issue and i will fix my review and YES I WANT A RESPONSE!

  I have seen a an improvement in my sons reading after 2 weeks. The interactive activities keeps him engaged . Way of learning to listen to the sounds and applying phenomic skills is helping him read and understand his books better . Great work reading eggs. Not only focusing on memorising sight words but emphasis on phenomic skills and relating to a child's world makes this a great educational app.

  I have found that doing about 15-20 minutes of the reading or maths programs each day with my granddaughter is a real pleasure for us both. The content is fun and she has learned to read three letter words in a very short time.

  We love Reading Eggs - especially Fast Phonics! I saw my daughter go from only knowing basic sounds to reading books unassisted in a matter of weeks. The level readers are perfect as they only have words/sounds taught and are a great confidence boost. The videos are good at explaining concepts and have plenty of tips too. I wish we'd started using this sooner as it would have saved a lot of headache with the sounds and sight words sent home from school.

  Reading Eggs has been amazing helping our daughter learn to read. With COVID-19 lockdowns she was delayed starting school for over two months . The school suggested Reading Eggs as a way to engage her as part of her new learning journey. Her reading has taken off as she wanted to be doing the programme every day. I was so impressed I shared my experience with friends in the same situation and they too used the app with great success. We are looking forward to getting stuck into Maths Seeds next!

  Ashley coming from another culture to Australia and never been to school started in Grade 2 without knowing is PHONIC's or even the Letters of the Alphabet. This program has been good for him. He has been learning and I'm very pleased with his progress. He can now write his name and is catching up very quickly with this extra learning skills at home.   I became the caregiver for my grandson during lockdown so his parents could work. In his first year of school he had made little reading progress due to missing many weeks of school bcause of lockdown The reading placement assessment made it easy for me to assess his level and the fun approach switched him on to learning again.   My 4yo loves reading eggs. She does not have to learn to read or write yet, but she is very interested and enjoys the new challenges the app offers. We love that she can take everything at her own pace and when she gets stuck in a lesson we switch to play some of the games or do a 'drivers test' until she is confident she can keep learning. I can see a lot of work went into developing reading eggs. While the app could do with a visual/graphics update at some point, we are very happy with our subscription and will definitely keep renewing it for the foreseeable future!

  The idea and concept is fantastic. But there are major bugs and glitches making it difficult at times for my child to complete tasks. Touch screen sensitivities and navigating through the exercises is complex and in certain sections my 5yo can not pass to the next. I probably will not be taking this up after the the trial period.

  Reading Eggs has been wonderful for several grandchildren. The oldest (now 12 yo) enjoyed the program a few years ago, followed it through at home and school and is now an avid reader, from autobiographies to fantasy genres. The next child lived with me during the 2020 lockdowns, started learning at 5yo (as an extra from her home-schooling) and quickly progressed from non-reader to proficient as we worked through the program from pre-reader onwards. She loved the way Reading Eggs is organised, and I loved watching her progress quickly from single letters to sounds and then to words. The youngest (just 4yo) couldn't wait to start and I'm back with Reggie and Sam as she navigates her way through. On my third journey with RE, I am understanding the careful thought and skill that has gone into creating the lessons - they are all such fun that the children don't realise they are acquiring skills. The certificates and emails outlining progress are great, the 'reward eggs' are encouraging and the colourful screens keep everyone engaged. I am an ESL teacher and appreciate the work that has gone into creating these fantastic resources. Sometimes it's hard for a teacher to introduce new concepts, and patience can be tested, but with RE students are always rewarded, never criticised, and they progress in leaps and bounds. I should balance this enthusiastic review with some suggestions for improvement but honestly, I can't! We now have three children reading at better than age-appropriate levels and, more important, children who love reading! Congratulations to the designers and professionals who created this program. Finally, the back up crew are amazing, answering queries and helping with the admin. Thank you everyone. (Sorry to gush, but I can't speak highly enough of ABC Reading Eggs and I'm happy to have the chance to do so.)

  Our two sons 4 and 6 love the interactive activities offered by reading eggs. In less than 30 days I have noticed Mr 4 go from no computer skills, to navigating start up of the laptop through to log on and choosing his activity. The rewards after each step are very appealing to both boys. The only fault that I have identified is the pronunciation of 'Z' which is very important to my beliefs on children's language, reading and writing development, thus quite disapointed, however I supervise reading eggs, so have been able to discuss the appropriate Australian articulation.

  I think there should be a way for parents to select what extra activity starts after the game and before the egg/prize. My daughter (3 year old)) is very enthusiastic painter but is getting bored of just popping bubbles and playing wack-a-mole. This means it is hard to encourage her to play the games where she would really be learning.

  Easy to use, easy to use free trial to get us through yet another lockdown. Very easy to cancel and a reminder to do so was very much appreciated. We have loved Reading Eggs for our eldest, who gets his through school, and being able to get a free trial for our youngest throughout lockdown has been a life saver.

  Its really great.. alrhough its screen rime children can apply it to physical books as well. Only wish is that there are sone grammer games as well ( only because there are a lot of grammer mcqs in the exams here

  I am very happy with all aspects of reading eggs. I have used it in a classroom situation as well home schooling a preschooler and year 1 student. They enjoy the little characters, the variety of activities and I like the progression and feedback for each student. The printable materials are an excellent reinforcement activity.   So good and so easy for my child to listen to and follow instructions she’s come a long way with her letters and she gets really excited when she achieves a lesson and get money. I also have learned a few things with her with the phonics it’s absolutely great and definitely worth it. I just wished that the dashboard was more easier to access so she’s able to do maths as well instead off having to do it myself for her

  My son was struggling in even getting the concept to how to make sounds for the letters. He used to cry because of not being aware of the sounds of letters but Reading eggs solved his problem. He enjoyes learning now. He has started reading books of his level which is a big achievement for him.

  My son really enjoys it. His reading had got a lot better since going this. It is fun to do and the activities are very varied. There is a parent login so you can see what progress they are making and change the level if necessary. there are also printable resources which are very good.

  The website wasn't as modern as I was hoping. Also, there is quite a delay when using the site via an iPad. I've found the books very blow par and the whole site isn't as easy to click through and navigate as I would have expected, based on the site's reputation, which is quite high. It has the feel of a site that was designed quite a few years ago but hasn't been updated since. We started off using it quite a lot but it hasn't kept the attention of my 3.5 year old so we've stopped using it (despite having a 12 month subscription). Liked it at the start but now I probably wouldn't recommend it.

If your iPad meets the specification requirements, and you have a good internet connection, you should not be experiencing the lagging issue that you describe. We can certainly help to troubleshoot this for you to get the program working well. In regards to your child losing interest, perhaps your child is working at a level that is not engaging for their ability? You can certainly move between the Reading Eggs Junior program, which is aimed for children 2 - 4 years of age, and the Reading Eggs which is aimed for 3 - 7 years of age. As well as this, there are many exciting area to explore other than the core lessons.
